Because of agategoddess, I will share a webcam story from this past Monday. It has been snowing here almost every day for the past five days. No more than 5 inches, and no less than a dusting. So I was about to go home from work and I decided to check on the webcam to see how the bad the snow is. In Salt Lake City, where I work, it barely snows, and where we live it snows all the time. So sometimes it can snow 6-12 here at home, and nothing at SLC.
Anyways, I looked at the streaming webcam to see if I can see flakes coming down. At that moment Kaz was pulling the truck out of the garage. "Cool," I thought. "I get to see her leave." But something happened. The truck was moving strangely and smoke was coming from the tires. Then I saw Kaz get out, look around the truck and spread salt near the tires. She got stuck against the snow banks on the side of the driveway. Our driveway is on a slope and if you hit the brakes hard, you can slide a bit. Then, even in 4x4 drive, you can't get back up the driveway because it is icy.
So I'm watching this whole thing unfold. I tried to call her to see if she needed help or at least advice, but no answer on the home phone, or the cell phone. Then she calls me and I start laughing because I already knew what was going on. Needless to say, she was not amused at all. So I told her to put it in 4-low, and either drive her way through the snowbank or dig herself out. After one more call about how to actually put the truck in four-low (put transmission in neutral) she got into the truck and I watched her get unstuck and back very slowly down the driveway. If you look carefully at the far edge of the driveway, you can still see the indents in the bank where she got stuck and the black marks in the snow where the back tire smoked.
And every once in awhile, if you happen to look in the webcam at just the right time, you can watch Kaz snowblow, see Miles fetch "Chuck-A-Duck," or watch Timber take a poop. But you won't see me. All I do is work during the daylight.
