Yesterday I got a call from my boss who was on her way home from the airport. We both live in the valley.
"Don't try to go up the canyon to get home tonight. They're closing it down."
All the rain had swollen the river past its breaking point and the thrashing waters had risen high enough to engulf parts of the road. Residents has been sandbagging last week and nervously watching from their back porches. Yesterday, as the fourth day of heavy rain continued, the waters broke the banks.
Today it is actually NOT raining. YET. But the sky looks very gray. Sigh.
Now I know why everyone still wears capris in Utah. They really were waiting for the flood.
* George's edit * You can see in the picture Ogden River which is the river that comes from Pineview dam which is the reservoir in our Valley.
