On the trail again...

To our shame and our enormous displeasure, George and I have found very few opportunities to go hiking this summer. We tried to rectify that situation by spending both of the past two weekends deep in the forests and canyons of Utah. Last weekend we headed off for a scenic drive into the Uintas and spent about an hour strolling along a trail that wound it's way through a heavily scented pine grove. The sky threatened rain most of the afternoon, but we occasionally found ourselves in pools of alpine sunshine and the views didn't disappoint.

This weekend we ambitiously tagged along with one of George's co workers on a steep hike into the mountains surrounding Brighton. The scenery was reminiscent of Cascade Canyon in the Tetons, abundant with meadows of wildflowers and pools of quiet, turquoise water. Despite the clouds and occasional fat drops of rain, we escaped the inevitable storm once again and headed down through Cottonwood Canyon, exhausted and mellow from a long afternoon slope-side.

We have plans to camp in both Teton and Glacier National Park this month, so I promise more tales of adventure and pictures of expansive landscapes. Toodles for now!

Cool. I have been getting out more but I really want to get back out West again. Glacier is a destination that is on my list too. But I just got info on North Dakota... Maybe we'll meet up again someday out West (or East for you)!
