This is one of my favorite crockpot recipes, perfect for windy, chilly fall or spring days. My Mom used to use ground turkey instead of beef and it was yummy!
1 lb. ground beef or turkey
3/4 lb. bacon
1 c. onion, chopped
2 15 oz. cans pork and beans (Campbell's only- must be tomato sauce based)
2 15 oz. cans dark or light kidney beans, rinsed
3/4 c. ketchup
1/4 c, brown sugar
1 Tbsp. liquid smoke
3 Tbsp. white vinegar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
Cook beef or turkey with onions on medium high until browned, seasoning with season and garlic salt as desired. Cook bacon lightly, then cut into pieces. Deposit all ingredients into crockpot and cover. Cook 4-9 hours.
